Part-I
My bus from Madurai to Kanyakumari heads southwards passing through the vast plains of Tamil Nadu. Summer has not yet set in, and there is pleasant breeze coming in from the window. Strong sun brings in a bit of discomfort whenever the bus halts, but nothing close to reminding the scorching summers. The grass is green and stretches endlessly to the horizon. There isn’t much habitation on the way and my views are not interrupted by human settlements.

Trivandrum is the Nearest Airport to Kanykumari.I hope this will act as a guide to people who would like to visit kanykumari from Trivandrum.
Major towns on the NH 47 which connects Trivandrum to Kanyakumari are given below. The distances are approximate.
Trivandrum City (18KM)=> Neyyattinkara (3KM)=> Amaravila (9KM)=> Parassala (1KM)=> Kaliyakkavilai (6KM)=> Marthandam (14KM)=> Thukalay (17KM)=> Nagercoil (19KM)=> Kanyakumari
There are two check posts on the way, one on the Kerala side at Amaravila and the second one at Kaliyakkavilai on the TamilNadu side. There is also a toll bridge at Amaravila (which crosses Neyyar river). One way toll fee for cars is Rs. 3.(Fees Subject to Change)
